The LLSDC Scholarship and Grants Committee is accepting applications for the summer cycle. The cost of an education is skyrocketing along with gas and food prices. While we can't offer you relief at the pumps or the grocery store we can offer something to ease your tuition woes. LLSDC is making available scholarships and grants for qualified candidates. Washington, DC is host in 2009 to the American Association of Law Libraries annual meeting. As such, we need to promote DC in Portland this July. If you are going to AALL in Portland this July, we need volunteers to staff the Publicity booth. The hours are below:

ILL SIS Bylaws Revision

Objectives:

This revision eliminates the secretary and treasurer positions, and better defines the duties and terms of office for the president and vice-president. These positions may be restored at any time via the same amendment process used to eliminate them.

To amend the bylaws, the majority of the SIS must approve the revision and 15 members must sign a petition that will be submitted to the Board for approval. This is your vote to approve or disapprove.

Current Bylaws –
ARTICLE V. Officers and Committees.
Section 1. Officers. The officers shall consist of a president, vice-president/president-elect, secretary and treasurer. The term of office for each officer shall be one year.

Section 2. Duties of the Officers. The president, vice-president/president-elect, and secretary, and treasurer shall perform the duties usually pertaining to their respective offices. Among such duties shall be the assessment of dues as approved by the Executive Board of the Law Librarians' Society of Washington, D.C., Inc.

Revised Bylaws –
Article V. Officers and Committees.
Section 1. Officers. The officers shall consist of a President and Vice-president/President-elect. The term of office for each officer shall be one year with the exception that the Vice-president/President-elect shall serve one year as Vice-president and the following year as President.

Section 2. Duties of the Officers. The President and Vice-President/President-elect shall perform such duties usually pertaining to their respective offices. Among such duties shall be:
a) Conducting regular meetings of the section;
b) Participation in the publications of the section and provision of other membership services that are beneficial to the section;
c) Arranging seminars and other educational events of interest to the section;
d) Preparing and submitting reports to the Board of LLSDC of budgets, accounts of expenditures, and receivables.

To search by member:

After you have logged in, scroll down and select "Search Memberships"
Enter information and click submit

To search by library:

On the membership search page, where it says "Use the search box to search by specific criteria," select "company"
Enter your search terms
You'll see all of the members associated with that company, and you can get address and contact info there.

To print the membership directory (note: you may only print alphabetically by member):

On the membership search page, select "reports"
Select "current members roster"
Print using your browser's print option

NOTE: Currently, there is no satisfactory mechanism to display library information such as hours, ILL policy, ILL phone number, etc. The LLSDC Website Committee, in conjunction with the ILL SIS, is working on a Business Directory.

Calendar: How to Add an Event

Click “Member Login” on the LLSDC webpage: http://www.llsdc.org/
Click “Calendar of Events” (left-hand menu)
Click “add event”
Select event type

Click “add calendar event type” if necessary

Select date and time and click continue
Fill in the following fields:

Event title
Location (full address will generate a google map)
Time Zone – select UTC Coordinated Universal Time
Details – enter the full details of your event

To paste from an email or Word document, right-click in the Details box
Click “paste text” or “paste Word” (these two options will clean up the text so there are no html problems)
Click insert

Other fields can be left blank or completed; it is your choice

Click “Submit calendar event”
If there is a cost to attend, enter it here. Otherwise, leave it blank.
If there is a cost to attend, check the "Allow Registration" box under section B to enable online payments

Note: you can permit online registration even if there is no charge for an event

If there is a cost to attend, check the "Require Credit Card Payment" box
Click "Update Calendar Event"
If you need to edit your event, click the pencil icon
To delete an event, click the trash icon
